Summary
Kate Figueiredo has been studying and working in the field of environmental science and management for 7 years. She has completed a Masters in Environmental Management in Scotland. Her previous work experience includes consulting in Edinburgh (Scotland), managing non-profit environmental work in the United States, and research with the University of Toronto
After completing her undergraduate degree in Environment and Health, Kate spent a year managing volunteers for a non-profit environmental service organisation, EcoWatch. Project work included catchment management, stream restoration, revegetation / rehabilitation and environmental education.
At Earth Systems, Kate has undertaken research, data analysis and report writing for a variety of environmental and social management and impact assessment projects. She has undertaken several risk assessments; and provided support for the development and on-site implementation of management and monitoring programs. She has participated in village level consultation, indigenous knowledge and health surveys. Kate has further assisted with the preparation of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and several Environmental and Social Management and Monitoring Plans (ESMMP).

Capacity building, report writing and development of a management plan for the Environmental Management Unit for the Nam Thuen 2 Hydropower Project, Government of Lao PDR.
Assisted with the preparation of an ESMMP for Sabodala Gold Mine, Senegal
Assisted with report preparation for a review of the environment and health impacts associated with mercury use in small-scale mining, Lao PDR, UNIDO Global Mercury Project.
