Where natural resource development projects coincide with settlement areas or areas of land-use, appropriate compensation may be required to mitigate any impacts and loss of livelihood which are caused by the development. 
The Government of Lao PDR accommodates for these people through compensation and resettlement legislation.  Earth Systems Lao has a detailed understanding of and much experience working with compensation and resettlement issues in Lao PDR.  We develop compensation strategies which are beneficial to both the development company and local communities, and which comply with relevant national legislation and international best-practise.
