Representative Experience

Bouavong has recently worked on the following projects:

Puthep Copper Project (NE Thailand), Environmental Engineer responsible for establishing the environmental baseline monitoring network for a proposed mining project.  Specific responsibilities
  • included the procurement and installation of equipment for the continuous monitoring of hydrological and meteorological aspects on-site.
  • Socioeconomic and Environmental Impact Assessment, Nam Tha Hydropower Project. Responsibilities included household survey data collection and analysis.
  • United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Technical Assistance and demonstration of technology to minimise health and environmental impacts from small-scale.
  • Technical Assistance Program to the Environmental Management Unit, GOL. Environmental Engineer, aassistance, training and support of field inspection teams. Responsible for the day-to-day coordination and implementation of the in-field training programs.
  • Xe Bang Fai Downstream Restoration Programme, Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric Project. Assistant Engineer for the development of a water supply and sanitation program for 20 downstream pilot villages. Responsible for a technical, social and economic assessment of options including: groundwater bores; head-works and distribution; rainwater harvesting; latrines; hygiene awareness. Scope of work also included preliminary consensus activities at the village and district level.
  • Environmental Monitoring Program, Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric Project.  Environmental Field Inspector responsible for the conduct of environmental and safety audits at all construction sites, and the identification / documentation of all environmental and safety risks. Scope of audit included erosion and sediment control, hazardous materials, waste management, camp management, revegetation, and water quality monitoring.
  • Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans, Nam Theun 2 Hydroelectric Project.  Environmental Engineer responsible for drafting / updating environmental AutoCAD layouts for all construction activities. Information presented in the layouts included baseline environmental features, site engineering layout, erosion and sediment control facilities.
  • Electrical Engineer, Houay Ho Hydropower Company / ABB and Sulzer.  Engineering technician during the installation and commissioning of electrical systems at the power plant.
  • Engineering Supervisor, Houay Ho Hydropower Company. Duties included: production energy control; personnel safety; supervision and implementation of maintenance program; digital process control using APC software.
